NO!! but, but......

I made this little guy for the Some Odd Girl Digital Stamps Challenge Blog. They asked us to use NO pattered papers this time 'round. It's like anything... if you are told NOT to do it, you find it so much harder!! Most of us probably make projects all the time without pattered paper, but tell us not to and we are totally stumped....
I also followed a sketch that Some Odd Girl is sponsoring this week at IC sketches, they have great sketches and lets face it, I am not giving up the chance to win some SOG digi's!!

So here is Robo heart sending you birthday greetings from his planet to yours...

Card
  • I followed sketch by IC Sketches
  •  for my non pattered paper I used core'dinations-the whitewash collection-and put though bigshot with sizzix texturz plate then sanded down a bit. I then went over the core'dinations with blue glittery chalk and distressed the edges.
  • I coloured Robo heart with promarkers then went over some areas with gel roller pen.
  • Bubbley gems from stash and ribbon Love Elsie

Start Snappin' (photos that is)....

A good friend of mine is turning 40 soon and I wanted to make her something small, but special.... she didn't want presents at the party, just donations to a local hospital.
Originally, I planned to make her a mini album with photos of her from when she was younger till 40.. BUT it turns out there aren't any... at least that can be found! Not sure if she has taken and hid them all or if there were non taken????? I have some from dif occasions since I have met her but not to get the effect I was going for... esp. since she is one to avoid the camera. She has recently lost weight and is looking better than ever so...
it's time to start snappin' photos!!!!
I made this little box for her to keep the photos of her 40th party in so even if she wants to hide them away under her bed at least she will have them at some stage to look back on...

I cut out the image she used for her invite and glued to bottom of box so she would have that to look back at as well since it was funny....

I am entering this little photo keepsake box in the Order of the Opus Gluei Happy Anniversary challenge #52. (Make something)  Love their humor, it's a great blog to visit!!! Congrats on #52 and here's to 52 more!!!
I would also like to enter it into Design Dollies Colour challenge- kraft and bright colours cause it is one of my fave challenges.

Box done with my Tim Holtz stamps and distress inks... (good fun as always) and some ribbon and gems from stash.Used alphas from Pink Petticoat and inner box paper as well, embossed sentiment done with JustRITE stamp and cut with nestie

Food for thought???

Just a quick post since I have the little ones nearing bedtime. I love the Design Dollies colour challenges cause they are always such cool combos, so I am hoping to get this post done in time tonight (children dancing around me as I write). I also tried their elements challenge this time round which was to combine a non traditional found item into your project.....I didn't set out to do this... I was just making the card and the little guy was eating Cheerios so thought I'd give them a whirl, lol..... (kids couldn't figure this out at all and Clodagh even went to grab one to eat at one stage)....

A Mother's Motto....

Just a simple little card I made for my Mom. We've already had Mother's Day here in Ireland, but it is coming up soon in Canada (where my Mom lives) so this will have to be posted soon.
Think the quote I used has good words to live by.. lol... we all hate to get behind on that laundry!!
I am entering this card in the Crafty Angel's challenge because one of my favourite things to do (as you can tell from most of my posts) is colour in stamps (since I bought a few promarkers I can't put them down!), I used my new favourite punch, and I am sending it to one of my favourite people!!

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining....

This card I made specifically for the Passion for ProMarkers Week 47 Challenge "Create your background using only your ProMarkers".

To start I coloured the whole card background with pastel blue, then I used my blender to draw clouds on the solid blue background. I went over the doodles a good few times before the colour was bled out completely. I then went over the inside of the cloud again (x about 3) with the pastel blue again to get a darker effect. At the corners I used a shade darker and tried to get a distressed effect and used the blender to soften a bit. (not sure I achieved what I was going for but....). I used my glue pen and some white glitter to line the inner of the clouds and give them the "Silver lining" effect. The images were coloured with promarkers, and a bit of glitter then put on with pinflair glue  for the floaty effect.......

Come sit next to me, pour yourself some tea.....

Even though this card looks simple, I can tell ya, it wasn't!! No one told me how hard it is to do black hair with promarkers!!!! I watched tutorials and looked at other people's creations, but with only a black and cool grey 3 it was tough! The quote is from Weezer, one of my favourite bands to play when I am in "a mood"... it always cheers me up! The image is  "Foo-Ling" one of the aisian su-shes from Stretch N Bubbles. Isn't she cool... there are other su-shes available there as well. I downloaded her free as a gift this year from Paper Craft Planet. (100 followers freebie!). Thanks Alison!!!

Love this quote.....

I have to say, I really enjoyed making this card... distressing is so much fun and you really don't have to worry about mistakes, etc. cause sometimes it even adds to the card in the end.  This was the first time (other than distressing corners really) that I tried a few new distressing techniques at home. I read Hels first tutorial on distressing from Gingersnap Creations and learned so much! Really want to get some crackle paint soon!!!! They also have a brilliant tutorial right now about bubble wrap backgrounds, unfortunately there are too many kids in this house to have a sheet of bubble wrap with all the bubbles intact (and that includes my husband and I might be a bit guilty too!) The liquid pearls in the mini mister with some water works brilliantly for a bit of sparkle!!

I just love this quote.... it is sooooo true... and I am so lucky to have three!

So here's the long list of bits used for this card:
L is for Love tab paper and quote from Cosmo Cricket's dutch girl stack
Snap and chipboard tabs by We are Memory Keepers
screw brads by Woodware
Promarkers canary yellow
Tim Holtz distress inks in peeled paint and tea dye for corners and stamped Tim Holtz Visual Artistry collection harlequin stamp for background in peeled paint ink
Also used a script stamp from one of the visual artistry sets with Memento coffee bean ink on the butterfly die
Ranger Distress Stickles in Picket Fence and Rock Candy (on butterfly wings and corners of card)
distress tool by Xcut for quote and paper corners
Ranger Liquid Pearls in gold used with sponge on corners and on chipboard tabs, brads and snap. I also used in mini mister with a bit of water and sprayed on card and butterfly and dried with heat gun.

WOW.... it was sooooo much fun..... could play all day!!!

Challenges I tried:

Simon Says Challenge-it's so distressing
GCSP3 Gingersnap Creations -blue moon challenge-take on a tutorial (as mentioned above I used THIS one)
Crafty cardmakers- challenge 18 A challenging challenge  (but one I might make a regular cause so much fun)

Pollycraft Monday Challenge- Challenge 38- anything goes
Design Dollies Colour challenge- dark green, rusty orange, yellow
Crafts and Me Challenges- fairies or wings (I choose wings-butterfly)

cheers,
